Hooray for warmer weather!

Today it was finally warm enough for Harris to go outside and play. He was out for about an hour and a half and was very busy making gardens, feeding the birds, and making a birthday cake for Ally. Ally's cake was made out of birdseed and dog food and I caught a few pictures of his discussion with Ally. He apparently made her cake and went over to sit with her so that he could tell her that he had made a birthday cake and she should go eat it. He then decided that if he moved the cake she might go eat it. That worked and then he found a "birthday hat" and told her that she had to wear it the whole time. Sweet, sweet Ally, tolerated the whole ordeal.

The Party

Last week, Harris and James had two of their friends come over to play. We kept the little ones in one side of the house while the "big kids" planned a party. Little did we know that EVERY toy in the playroom would become a birthday gift and be piled into the middle of the floor! There was even a table cloth with pretend food off to the side made just for us. The last picture shows how proud they were of what they had done. It was a wonderful disaster and we were happy to be invited!

New Year's Trip to Huntsville

We drove to Huntsville for the week of New Year's Eve. The boys had a great time playing with Pop and Granny. Harris and Granny set up a huge car wash system and a race track. They all spent lots of time playing play-doh too. I was happy that James spent time actually playing with it instead of eating it! It was sooo cold outside so luckily we could let the boys burn off some of their energy in Pop's "hot pool". Mamaw and Aunt Jeannie came over one afternoon. Harris loved coloring with Aunt Jeannie and James was determined to feed Mamaw his lunch. New Year's Day we all ate black eyed peas and greens (even Granny ate her greens) and then ate lobster for dinner. Harris enjoyed the process of cracking the shell and playing with all the tools! What a way to kick off the new year!

Christmas

I am very behind on my blog, but I think about three entries will catch me up! Here's the first one:

Christmas was wonderfully laid back. So laid back that I did not capture very much of it on camera! I already regret that, but that's just how it goes sometimes in our family. We have one family shot and just a few of the boys with some of their gifts. Harris put out magic oats and carrots for the reindeer and cookies with milk for Santa. Santa in return left a bouncy house for both boys. Christmas was a little overwhelming for Harris, so we took breaks to play for awhile and opened gifts through out the morning. It was nice that way. Granny came to stay with us, and unfortunately came down with bronchitis while she was here. She rested on the couch while the boys climbed all around and over her! It was amazing that she was able to feel a little better before she left to go home.

Thanksgiving in North Carolina

This past week we drove to Nana and Big Daddy's house in North Carolina for Thanksgiving. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time. Harris got to spend lots of time outside and we even took a Thanksgiving day boat ride. James is cutting his fourth molar in three weeks so being around two doting grandparents was a definite plus in his little world. Both of the boys loved playing in all of the leaves and Harris enjoyed trying to fish with his hookless "stinging" fishing lure.

James still enjoys a good wrinkled up napkin in his hands. Who knew something so simple could make him so happy!

The Geese at Wesleyan

Today we went to feed the geese at Wesleyan College. Harris had a great time throwing little pieces of bread out for the geese, but James preferred to eat it. When we ran out of bread we made our way around the pond and over to the stables. Harris and James both enjoyed the horses. James loved petting their noses and Harris enjoyed watching the stable cleaning!

Lake Martin

This past weekend we spent the weekend at Lake Martin with the Pathak family. It's so fun to see their little one Thomas with the boys. He enjoyed watching Harris romp around and Harris enjoyed leading him around. The weather was beautiful and it was just a peaceful time of year to be at the lake. Thanks to the Pathaks for a wonderful weekend!
